Before I Found IPage
When I started my first blog in 2016, I didn’t have a clue about the difference in web host providers. I figured as long as I could build my WordPress website, any web host would do.
At that time, I was on a shoestring budget and looking for the best deal for getting started. I literally had $1.37 in my checking account to work with, so I was on a hunt for a bargain.
I bought my domain for less than a dollar from GoDaddy, which was an awesome deal, but I didn’t have enough money to have my new website hosted there (I’ve since seen bad reviews about GoDaddy as a web host, so do your homework before choosing).
Eventually, I found an offer from Hostgator and got my first month of WordPress web hosting for a penny. I don’t think that deal is available anymore, but I was lucky enough to find it and get my blog launched.
But, I figured it out and launched my new blog.
I didn’t think much about my web hosting until I wanted to launch my second blog.
An Unsavory Encounter With Hostgator Customer Service
I wasn’t sure how to do that so I called their customer service.
The rep that I spoke with was very condescending towards me. I was asking questions and when he answered, he made me feel like an idiot. I really didn’t understand what he was talking about – all I wanted to do was add a new WordPress website, which he made seem much more complicated than it actually is (I learned how easy it is when I switched to IPage).
Anyway, what the conversation boiled down to was that I had to upgrade my plan in order to add another website. That was fine, and I took his recommendation and upgraded to a plan for $11.95/month.
When I upgraded, my whole dashboard was different. I was now expected to add files and directories…I had no idea what to do next, and just wanted to add my new WordPress website.
Since my last encounter with their customer support team, I was hesitant to call back. Thanks to him, I was questioning whether I was smart enough to even run my own profitable blog.
I was overwhelmed and frustrated and because of that encounter with their customer service team, I was done with Hostgator.
So, instead, I began my search for a new web host service provider. This time I did my homework.
7 Reasons Why IPage Is The Best Web Host For Your WordPress Blog
After doing some research, I had my choices narrowed down to Siteground and IPage.
Bluehost is a popular choice for new bloggers because of the low price-point. In this case, you really do get what you pay for.
I’m telling you now, don’t do it. When your blog starts to grow and your getting spikes of traffic, that low-priced plan with Bluehost will fail you.
Your website will go down and you’ll have to upgrade to a more expensive plan. In the meantime, your website is down!! That is terrible news when you’re finally getting that traffic you worked so hard for.
How IPage Won Me Over
Why did I choose IPage over Siteground? I have nothing negative to report about Siteground at all. I just happened to call IPage first, and they won me over.
Because of the negative experience with the Hostgator customer support team, I wanted to make sure I was going to get the support I needed. I also wanted to make sure I wasn’t in over my head with this whole blogging thing.
So I called them directly.
My first encounter with the IPage phone support team was awesome! I explained what I wanted to accomplish and she assured me it what I needed was totally possible with IPage. Also, there was no reason for the complicated plan that my previous web host provider had upgraded me to.
She was courteous and knowledgeable, talked to with respect and explained my options in Lehman’s terms, and I ended the conversation confident that I was choosing the best web host for my WordPress blog.
1. Expert WordPress 24/7 Customer Support
Obviously, their customer service is the main reason I recommend IPage over other web host providers. However, their customer support goes beyond the average support offered by other web hosts.
IPage has a dedicated team of WordPress Experts available to help you manage your WordPress website! There is a huge learning curve for new bloggers that haven’t used WordPress before.
Their WordPress experts are available to help you through those obstacles and answer your questions about using WordPress, day or night.
The IPage customer support team has saved me on more than one occasion, even at 3 a.m.!

2. Free Domain Registration or Domain Transfer
When you sign up with IPage, you will get to choose your own custom domain, which is free for the first year.
If you already have a domain like I did, and are just wanting to switch over, IPage will transfer it for you, absolutely free. This will save you the headache of trying to figure out how to move over database files and SQL files (no, I’m definitely not a techie!) for a smooth transition.
3. Unlimited WordPress Websites
Most basic plans with web hosts only allow for you to have one WordPress website.
If you have an entrepreneurial spirit like I do, one will never be enough.
With IPage’s WordPress Essentials plan, you can have an unlimited number of WordPress websites! This is great, especially if you plan to expand your business with multiple domains to host your online courses, or if you plan to have more than one blog.
You won’t be charged more to add new websites.
4. One-Click WordPress Install With Pre-Installed Themes & Plugins
When you sign up for the WordPress Essentials plan with IPage, you get access to One-Click WordPress install. That means your website will literally be installed with just one click.
You’ll also have pre-installed themes to choose from to fit whatever your website needs are.
There are several must-have plugins pre-installed for you as well, saving you the time of finding the necessary plugins for your website.
5. Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth
One of the best reasons that IPage is the best web host for your WordPress blog is that your WordPress Essentials plan comes with unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth.
That means your website will load up to 2.5x faster than with other web hosts.
Plus, when you have your first viral blog post or start seeing spikes in traffic, your website will not be effected. With other web hosts, your storage and bandwidth are limited, causing downtime for your website.
You don’t have to worry about the functionality or speed of your website with IPage – it’s always on!
6. Free SSL Security Certificate
At this point, you need a secure website for your blog, which means you need an SSL security certificate. Many web hosts charge extra to go from http:// to https://.
Without the SSL certificate, many people trying to visit your website will encounter security warnings which may deter them from visiting.
IPage offers a free SSL security certificate with the WordPress Essentials plan. That means your website is secure and assures website visitors that your website content is safe.
7. Free Sitelock Security
Get an extra layer of security for your website with free SiteLock security.
It’s free with your plan and includes a deluxe security bundle and a custom firewall to protect your website from hackers. Automatic malware removal is included as well.
IPage Is The Best Web Host For Your WordPress Blog
As you can see, choosing IPage as your web host is practically a no-brainer, now that you have the facts.
Of course, I highly encourage you to do your own homework on the different options available, based on your own needs. If you’re a beginner, IPage is my recommendation – hands down.
