Have you started building your blogger tribe yet? If not, you probably just don’t realize the benefits of a blogger tribe yet. My tribe has been key in helping me reach success with Next Level Blogging, and I’m confident your blogger tribe will do the same for you.
So, what exactly is a tribe? According to YourDefinition.com, the definition of a tribe is a group of people, or a community with similar values or interests, a group with a common ancestor, or a common leader.
Studies have shown that when our social needs are met, and we’re surrounded by our tribe, not only is our mental health affected, but also our physical health. Rates of suicide, heart disease, and even cancer, are lower in tight-knit communities.
Human beings crave intimacy, and thrive when surrounded by their tribe, and that goes for blogger tribes, too.
So what’s so great about having a blogger tribe?
One of the many things I love about blogging is the sense of camaraderie instead of competition. Even as a professional blogger, because we all have a different voice to express ourselves, you’ll still find that your blogger tribe will be your best source for a number of needs.
1. Support From Other Bloggers
As a blogger, there will be a number of times throughout your journey when you feel very discouraged and lonely. Your friends and family (unless you’re lucky enough to have bloggers in your immediate circle) will probably not understand your struggles with your blog.
Personally, my family and friends have added to my stress as a blogger, saying things like “that’s nice, but you should still get a real job”, or “why are you always “playing” on the computer?”.
In my early blogging days, those types of comments made me second-guess myself, and made me wonder if I was really capable of reaching my goals with my blog. Can you relate?
Luckily, I had started building my blogger tribe and their support, and the feedback from my readers, helped validate my choices. As Beyonce says in her song “Formation”, “The best revenge is your paper”, so I don’t sweat those comments anymore.
Your blogger tribe will be there when you’re doubting yourself, and when you need a cheerleader. You will also develop genuine friendships with some members of your tribe, if you give the same support in return.
2. Constructive Feedback About Your Blog
No matter how long you’ve been blogging, there are times when you need feedback.
Again, your family and friends may not be your best resource for this. Your blogger tribe, on the other hand is perfect for getting feedback!
If you’re just starting out, this is especially helpful. Your blogger tribe will take a look at your layout, your color and fonts, and make suggestions on how you can improve. If you’re anything like I was and have no idea how to start driving traffic to your blog, guess who can help? Yup, your tribe!
By the way, I offer a complete audit of your blog and posts, along with a personalized success plan. Shoot me an email at angel@nextlevelblogging.com and mention this post for a $50 discount!
3. Increased Engagement With Your Content
If you’re looking for engagement on your blog, like comments and shares, other bloggers are going to provide this for you, more than anyone else. This is especially true in the early days of your blog.
Getting others to engage with your content isn’t only good for your confidence level, it’s also good for your Google ranking. The closer to Google’s first page you can get, the better the odds of readers finding your blog.
4. More Blog Post Shares To Social Media
As I mentioned in the engagement section, your blogger tribe is great for sharing your posts on social media.
Getting your posts shared by other bloggers gets your blog posts in front of their audience. This can be huge for finding new readers interested in your content, that otherwise may have never known that your blog existed.
Be sure to make it easy for others to share your content by including social share buttons on all of your posts. If you’re interested in a great way to do this, absolutely free, check out my post One Powerful (Free) Tool That Will Skyrocket Your Blog’s Growth.
5. Guest Posts & Collaboration Opportunities
One of the best ways to grow your blog is to provide a guest post for another blog or collaborate with another blogger on a post. The more bloggers in your tribe, the more opportunities you will have available for this.
Again, your blog gets in front of a whole new audience. Since their audience is already reading your guest post, they’re most likely going to check out the rest of your blog.
Assuming you’re going to take my advice and build up your blogger tribe, let’s talk about the results you’re really looking for.
6. More Traffic To Your Blog
Your blog tribe is going to be visiting your blog, but that’s not the reason you’ll see a boost in traffic. Now that your blog is being introduced to a whole new audience, you’re going to see a steady increase of traffic from your target market.
7. More Email List Subscribers
Your blogger tribe can help drive readers to your blog, but what you do with this additional traffic is all on you. With all this new traffic, you want to make sure you have strategies in place to grow your email list.
You definitely want to have sign-up options in several places on your website, including your sidebar and footer. In addition, try to create content upgrades for each of your blog posts.
I like using Sumo, a free plugin that offers several options to build your email list, including pop-up forms, and my favorite, the Welcome Mat. If you want more information on this amazing plugin, check out my related post here, which goes over all of Sumo’s free features.
8. Make Money Blogging
Even if you’re not monetizing yet, you want to start building your email list as soon as possible. Think of the people on your list as your customers, and treat them as such.
When you do decide to create a product or offer a service, your first customers will most likely come from your email list. So yes, your tribe is even going to help you gain customers.
Depending on your niche, members of your tribe may even become customers themselves. That’s been my experience, since my niche includes working directly with bloggers.

I’m new to blogging and I hadn’t consciously thought about building a bloggers tribe yet. Finding like minded bloggers would be more awesome! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the insight.
I definitely agree with you, collaborations, groups or tribes help you. Also working and communicating with like-minded people are great since you get to learn!
You have mentioned like every struggle of blogging and suggested great ways to overcome these. Great post!
I’ve joined a few, including Mom Bloggers Tribe. Have only been using them for a few days and already see the advantages.
How big a tribe do you suggest I have for a travel blog?
It’s really up at to you. The more bloggers that you are connected to, the more your own blog will grow. I don’t think there’s a magic number for any of us. I would suggest having a few that you are close to, and can depend on for feedback and support, but as far as promotion and collaboration, you should continue to grow your network.
Hope that helps! Be sure to check out ProBound Bloggers if you are ready to start seeing your tribe in action!

Hi Susanlian,
I’m offering 3 months for the price of 1 for ProBound Bloggers now through the end of June. Because of the amount of time I give to each member, I can’t offer a totally free trial. Studies show that people don’t place value on free trials, and therefore often abandon them, and I’m giving new members personalized success plans, which I spend 2-4 hours to create.
If you’d like to take advantage of 2 months free, use code FB3FOR1 at checkout, and get 90days for just $25! Hope to see you there!
Details and signup here.
You bring up great points here on why it’s a good idea to have a blogging tribe behind you. Trying to build a blog alone can be tough.
